It's important to note that Perhentian Island does not have any bank or ATM machine available. Visitors are advised to bring sufficient cash for their stay, as credit card acceptance may be limited on the island.

how to get here...

By Plane:

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport - KLIA you can fly on Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia, FireFly and Malindo to either Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Terengganu (TGG) or to Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Kota Bharu (KBR). Order yourself a Grab Car or get on the share mini-van to Kuala Besut Jetty. From Kuala Terengganu airport it will take about 1 and a half hour, and 1 hour from Kota Bharu airport.

By Bus:

You can take express buses from most major cities and towns around Malaysia directly to Kuala Besut Jetty or to Jerteh. Easiest way to buy your tickets is to buy it online using www.easybook.com 

The jetty is 5 minutes walk from Besut bus terminal. If you get to Jerteh, then you will need to take a taxi to the jetty, 10 mins drive. 

By Train:

From Kuala Lumpur (KL Sentral) get a train to Gemas, about 2 hours ride. From Gemas take the famous Jungle Railway to Tanah Merah Station, about 12 hours ride, then taxi or Grab Car to Kuala Besut Jetty, about 1 and a half hour drive.

Driving:

From Kuala Lumpur you have two options to drive to Kuala Besut Jetty; either you take the Lebuhraya Pantai Timur (LPT) or the Central Spine Road (CSR). Distance is about 540km. Usually take about 7 hours to get to Kuala Besut Jetty.

From Penang take the Timur-Barat Highway to Kuala Besut Jetty. 355km, should take you about 5 and a half hours. 

From Johor Bahru or Singapore, you also have two options; either take the Laluan Persekutuan 3 along the coast or take the Segamat-Kuantan Highway. Both routes will connects you to Lebuhraya Pantai Timur (LPT) to get to Kuala Besut Jetty. Distance from Johor Bahru to Kuala Besut is about 650km - 8 hours drive. 

There are plenty of car parks within walking distance to the jetty for you to park your vehicle. The charges is around RM8 to RM10 per day.

At Kuala Besut Jetty:

Once you get to the Kuala Besut Boat Terminal, there are plenty of boat company offices you can get your boat tickets from. Return tickets to/from Perhentian costs RM70 per person. We highly recommend you to get your tickets Safe Park Boat Office. You can also book for your boat transfers through us. Boat leaves every hour from Kuala Besut jetty to Perhentian, however, from Perhentian back to Kuala Besut only 3 times a day - 8.00 am, 12.00 noon and 4.00pm. Please let the captain or the boat crew know which beach you would like to be dropped off at. If you are staying with us, tell them to take you to Coral Bay! The speedboat journey to Perhentian usually take about 35 to 45 minutes. Lucky you, Coral Bay is always the first stop.
